Our usual routine in the morning is to ask Stella if she had a good sleep – the answer is always yes. Then we ask her what she dreamed about, and since she could talk the answer was always “Horses!” After awhile, the standard answer was “Horses! And dogs!”, and then “Horses! And dogs! And boys!”. She started to elaborate a bit on the topics- “Horses eat gwass, dey wunning awound!”, but those three things were always the answer. This morning we asked her what she dreamed about and she says “Robots!”. This from a child who does not have any robot books, to my knowledge we have never talked about robots, she doesn’t watch them on TV….I have no idea where she got this. We asked her what the robots were doing and she says “Dey wearing socks. Dey jumping.” We asked her what they said and she says ” Dey say -Where’s my socks?”.
I love this kid.

The last few days we have been out after dark, which is pretty early in these parts, and Stella has been noticing lots of Christmas lights. This is the first year that she has noticed anything to do with Christmas, so we have been talking about it a bit. I was hoping to hold off on explaining the presents and Santa thing until closer to Christmas, but someone asked Stella if Santa was bringing her presents and we were all in whether I wanted to or not. She looked at me with these huge questioning eyes and I could tell her little brain was just exploding. This child’s three favourite things: ice cream, ketchup and presents. So…I tried to explain that Santa brings presents to people’s houses, BUT only on one day, and that day is in a few weeks (a concept she understands from having family that live far away). She seemed to understand and let it go, but when I went in to get her after her nap the first thing out of her mouth is “Santa come? I have PWESENTS?”. No honey, not today. Last night when I was putting her to bed she says “I go sweep and den Santa give me pwesents?”. No honey, not tonight.
It is going to be a long month.

That’s my girl…2 going on 13.
