Stella and one of her best buds modeled some coats for me today. The coats are vintage and had nasty fake fur collars and trims so I just spruced them up a bit. I think this is something I want to do more of.

My my. That was a much longer blog break than I intended to have, and I don’t even have a reason really. Life around here has been fairly relaxed for a change, since I decided to take a little work sabbatical of sorts. The past week or so has been full of projects inspired by [...]
mister moe

Apparently, we have a new resident in our house. Mister Moe has arrived, Stella’s imaginary new friend. It started today in the chiropractors office with and excited “There’s Mister Moe! is READING!” and since I don’t know what she is talking about most of the time, I did the usual …smile, nod, “that’s great Stella”. I have [...]
aaahhh…it’s the stripe monster

These little hats are the result of some experimenting with leftover sweater pieces. When Stella is wearing one I think she looks like one of those handmade monster stuffies that you see around the indie craft sites so much.
They are really easy once I figured out the best way to avoid wavy seams and such. [...]
funky fall

This week during my regular post-holiday funk I challenged myself to come up with a project that uses all the sweater pieces I have around left over from making sweater pants. Were you visiting our house over the weekend you may have overheard the following conversations.
At lunchtime:
Me: “Stella…I bet you can’t eat all your supper!”
Stella: (shoving handfuls of food in her mouth) “I did! I DID!”
At naptime following lunch:
Me: “Stella, it is time to go to sleep.”
Stella: “Bet you can’t sing a song!”
I think she’s onto [...]

the lesson

Apparently this will also be the autumn of earaches, fevers and backs refusing to align, of being really sick, while also parenting a sick toddler while the husband escapes to work. Sigh. I am trying to be very zen about this week of zero productivity but I am not not succeeding very well. This poem is helping [...]
has it really been a year already?

I was looking back through my other blog tonight and came across this, an Autumn Manifesto that I wrote last year. I can’t believe that it has already been a year. Reading it over I found I feel very much the same about this autumn so I thought I would re-post it here.
“This autumn I will wake [...]

It has been a very exciting week around here for my little business! Whew. I am proud to announce that my work is now available at a fantastic online shop called goodEGG industries. I have been following this shop ever since it opened, and always thought longingly about “one day” being confident enought to submit my work to [...]
